The projects in Year 7 aim to give a broad introduction into as wide a variety of media, techniques and processes as possible but focusing on the development of basic visual understanding (the formal elements and visual literacy) through the development of skills. Year 7 Introduces a range of drawing, painting and 3D work through theme based projects, aiming to provide students with a base on which to build in Year 8.
Project 1Forms:
This is a skills building project focusing on drawing in lots of different ways, investigating the way a range of artists work and use materials and developing our abilities to create new artworks based on our research and experimentations. |
Project 2Bugs and Butterflies:
In this project we continue to develop our basic recording and artist research skills but focus on using colour to do this. We will study the colour wheel and experiment with mixing and blending tones, tints and shades. We will experiment with basic printing and explore the media of collage and cut-out. |
Project 3Cultural Masks:
This project is focused on exploring art from other cultures. We will investigate portraiture, the work of cultural artists and develop and make our own culturally inspired mask using 2D relief techniques. |
